What We Do
Food Assistance
Warrawong Residents Forum run weekly events to give food and provisions for individuals in need at our centre.
Assess and Address needs
Our team is dedicated to understanding our clients’ needs, and developing a plan to address them.
Access To Resources
The bits and pieces that are available out of our centre including both practical and service support.
Social Groups
Social groups participate from Warrawong Residents Forum such as Men’s Group, Ladies Craft, and more.
With Your Help, We are Making The World a Better Place
Our food initiatives serve as a whole-of-entry point for community members to engage with our team, as we build trust and hear stories, we can assess and open doors to accessing additional resources that we have available.
Community Lunch: We provide a free community lunch every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These meals are hearty and also serve as a great opportunity for socialisation.
Food Hub: Each Tuesday we sort through our food delivery to fill grocery bags for individuals and families that are in need.
Food Hub Bundy: Each Tuesday afternoon we take food over to Bundaleer community centre where we provide a grocery bag for families in need.
Take Aways: These are meals created from lunch and stored in containers, many community members who are transient or do not have facilities/ skills to cook at home are given these meals to take home and heat up in the microwave.
Food Parcels: Throughout the week we meet families that do not have capacity to purchase groceries for a few days (waiting for pay or other circumstances prohibit them from buying food for their household) we store long life products and canned goods from the oz harvest deliveries and donations to use for these instances.
Our Mission & Approach
Warrawong Residents Forum Inc (WRF) is based out of Warrawong Community Centre in NSW Illawarra Region. We are a small organisation with a 1.1 staff and a handful of volunteers in one of the Illawarra’s most under resourced and disadvantaged communities (SEIFA Index of 2%). We provide a range of support to the community from Early Intervention – through to – Emergency Relief; Including: information, referral, links, assessment, and advocacy. We provide several initiatives that serve as soft entry points for the community including a community lunch, food hub, food parcels, take away meals, and at times vouchers – this basic need and resource sees vulnerable people visiting the centre, engaging with the team, and building a sense of trust where they can ask for help and engage in our resource.
At times we are a first point of contact for families in the community in times of complexity and need. We are told that our service has a reputation of being helpful, non-judgemental, respectful, and most importantly we allow clients to lead and direct their lives.
